Meet Us

Owned and operated by Toni Geren and Jenny Montgomery

Hi
My name is Toni Geren.  I have been taking care of pets professionally since 1969.  My 1st job was in a boarding kennel.  I learned to groom while still in high-school and started my own business,  The Barking Lot in 1975.  In 1983, I started The Final Touch with my mother.  We hand-made over 80 styles of bows and offered a full line of bandanas for everyday and all holidays.  These were sold to grooming salons in the U.S. and Canada.  We have been at this for 24 years and have made many a million dog bows!
I operated Toni's Tiny Treasures, a kitten rescue for 4 years and found homes for over 150 kittens.
In 2004, The Final Touch also became my second grooming shop.  I sold my interest in The Barking Lot in 2005 and no longer have any ties to this facility.  Jenny and I turned our whole attention toward Grammie's,  where we only wanted to  provide a true Home Away From Home.
Jenny is my daughter and has grown up with many animals underfoot!  She started working at The Barking Lot 1996 at the age of 13.  She gained experience in all areas of animal care and helped in the vet clinic.  In 2003 She started working mainly in the grooming shop and built her skills as a groomer.  In 2004,  she joined me at The Final Touch where she has proven herself to be a good groomer and experienced in all breeds.

We both are active with our dogs.  Dude and Pride earned their CGC (Canine Good Citizen) through Companion Dog School, and both passed a Therapy Dog Test to earned their TDI's.  In addition, Dude has passed the ATTS temperament test, and got his Rally Novice (RN) in the minimum amount of trials.
Auz has earned his CGC, and passed his TDI test at one year and 6 days old (1 year old being the minimum age to title!)  He has also earned his Rally Novice (RN), and has 2 of 3 legs for Rally Advanced (RA).
Our dogs are not our only pets.   We have 6 housecats, 13 barn cats and 1 horse, Cinnamon.  She is 30 yrs. young and came to us to spend her retirement.
Please visit our photo page to meet them all.

All in all, I guess we realized our pets didn't view their world thru chain link, we didn't clean up occasional accident with a hose and life wasn't surrounded by cement.  After taking care of several babies in our own home, came to realize there was a better way to take care of our pets.  They do enjoy social play time and thrive better in an at home setting.
Grammies was born!

Our family also includes "Grammies"  Midge, Marcia, Sandy and Jackie.

Midge, we have known "forever" and a true friend and a loving compassionate animal lover.  Her best friend is Mickey, a shih-tzu.  She is always ready to give your baby some good loving!

Marcia we have known for several years.  She is active with her dogs, Murphy a bichon, and Molly her golden retriever.  She is a whiz at our desk, and keeps things as organized as possible.  (Jen and I keep her challenged!!)

Sandy, we have also known for several years.  Her best friends are Bo her maltese and Zoey, her kitten.  She loves spending times with the dogs.  She has a soft spot for the scared ones and works to make them more comfortable when being left.

Jackie recently started working in the grooming shop as a bather.  We have known her since the mid 1980's when she also work with me at The Barking Lot.  Her best friends are Lance, a smooth coated border collie, Gwen, a border collie mix, and Heidi and Maggie her two pugs.

Jenny and I feel blessed with such a loving staff.  We may be considered "animal nuts" by some, but at Grammies House it is ALL about the animals.
